Before and After Part 1

Ok, I've promised several people some before and afters of my painting jobs we did for the kids room. Part 1 is Olive's room. I still haven't hung stuff because I thought I'd get pictures taken and such... anyway - this is what we have now!
Here is the before picture - it's not the best shot but it explains the room. Plain pink... well it was more like bubble gum pink.

What we did was a two-toned lavender. The top half of the room is a real light light almost white lavender and the bottom was a darker shade of lavender. Along the line we did a stencil and swapped colors from the top and bottom. We also painted the dresser - it use to be honey colored but that just didn't go with what I wanted.

Our Honey color crib we used for the other 3 kids was broken (thanks to our move 5 years ago) so I got this used one of Craig's list. I also had help from a friend to make my "ballerina crib skirt" as I like to call it. Wendy was nice enough to lend us the rocking lamb and white rocker. Went PERFECT with the room. If you look close enough you can see the bow board that Jenny made me for my shower with ALL the bows she made too! Love it! (Still need to hang it)

The stencil was the scariest part for me - I had never done one. Well, I finished it in 2 afternoons. It really wasn't bad at all.

Stay tuned for the other kids rooms...

Head Band?

This kid just kills me lately - here he is wearing one of Paige's head bands.... seriously?!? He cracks me up!

Paige is 7

This year for Paige's birthday we didn't have much of anything planned. Lucky for us her Aunt Tiffany hosted a Surprise Birthday dinner on her behalf. John took Paige with him to "drop something off at work" while the rest of us headed over to her cousins house. There we waited and when they walked in the door it was a SURPRISE!

Paige has said that she "doesn't like princesses anymore" - so picking out a cake was harder... we went with a photo of her - I think she liked it.

We got Paige a (long overdue) bike. She was so big for her old bike and is loving the newer, larger one... with gears, very useful for all the hills around here. Happy Birthday Paige - we love you!

On Paige's actual birthday our dear friend Jenny took her to Disneyland. All year long you can get in free on your birthday - and it has been years since Paige has been. She had the best time there! Thanks Jenny. It's nice to know someone is thinking of your child when you can't do much to celebrate for them :)
